Thought your sewing machine was to make curtains? Wrong! Make friends with your sewing machine, forget about seams and straight lines. A sewing machine is a fantastic tool for embroidered textile art which can be applied to mixed media, clothing, bags, greeting cards and more. You will need a sewing machine. To do free motion stitching (sometimes called ‘darning’ in the instruction manuals) you will need a machine on which the feed dogs can be lowered or a plate placed over them, and a darning foot (this often does not come with the machine as standard but can be ordered through shops or the internet).
